Salvation: It's Free
                                     by Tony Edwards

God’s gift of Salvation is the most precious thing ever offered to mere man. Paul said, “For when we were
still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die;
yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:6-8).

Not only is this gift precious but it is also free. We have these words recorded in Ephesians 2:8: “For by
grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Since the fall of
man in the Garden of Eden, the human race has lived on the edge of destruction. God promised to send
His son (Gen. 3:15) because man had no way to repay the debt. Brother Tillit S. Teddlie wrote a song that
said,
“Oh the depth and the riches of God’s saving grace
Flowing down from the cross for me!
There the debt for my sins by the Savior was paid
In His suffering on Calvary!”

Obeying the Lord requires that a person: a) Hear the gospel (John 6:44-45; Acts 15:7; 1 Cor. 15:1-4), b)

At last, rejoice and thank God for His unspeakable gift (2 Cor. 9:15)!
