               The Value of Godly Fear
                                           by Tony Edwards

The Winston Dictionary defines the word “value” as that which makes anything worth possessing; worth.

There is an old concept that says, “if you want to solve the problem find the root cause.” Today, what our
world needs in order to tackle the problems within and without the home is “godly fear.” This is the root cause
to all immorality and every dilemma that arises as a result of sin happens because people do not fear God.

The Scriptures are abundantly clear as to the value of godly fear. The Bible says it is necessary to:
The worship of God
•        Ps 5:7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and
in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
•        Ps 89:7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had
in reverence of all them that are about him.

The service of God
•        Ps 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Avoiding of sin
•        Ex 20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove
you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

Righteous government
•        2Sa 23:3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth
over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

Perfecting holiness
•        2Co 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse
ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear
of God.

Yes, if bringing back strong marriages, successful children and a productive society are important  to us,
then we must place our value in “Godly Fear.”

Pr 16:6 "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and   by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil."
