| Women of God In a changing world, Christian women hold on to an unchanging hand: God's hand. |
| How God and Success Go Hand in Hand by Jaz Gray God also has an important task he wants us to complete during our lives though. As we strive to for Christ. accomplish earthly goals, we have to also strive to use whatever success we obtain to win souls for Christ. God allows us to have success. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed” (NIV). When we work hard and do all that we can to accomplish our goals, God will take us the rest of the way. We may not reach our destination the way that we planned, but God will definitely present us with opportunities that will lead to success in our lives. There is a saying, “God helps those who help themselves”. Now, I’ve never seen that verse in the bible but the principle is clearly there (see Ecc 10:10, Rm. 8:28). We must always recognize that God is constantly blessing our lives. He sends us opportunity after opportunity; we just need to keep our minds open. Sometimes good things happen to us and we see it as merely luck or coincidence when it’s really God working in our lives. James 1:17 says that every good and perfect gift is from above, so we do not have even one accomplishment that God has not helped us obtain… but why? Does God allow us to be blessed and have success just so that we can be comfortable and happy while on earth? After we have worked hard, and God has allowed success to come our way, He expects us to let our light shine and use that light to pull people to Him. As Christians, we have been called to a life of service and that does not stop as we become more successful. If anything it becomes even more important to hold our lamps high as people give us accolades and attention. Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”. Luke 12:48 says, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded”. In other words, when God blesses us, he expects us to use the blessings to bring people to Him (Phil. 2:12-13, 1 Peter 4:10, 1 Peter 4:10). Every night we should pray that God gives us the spiritual tools we need to continue to be a faithful Christian as we become more and more successful. Staying humble and God-fearing is the biggest challenge that Christians will face as they begins to accomplish their dreams. Romans 12: 11 says, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord” (NIV). We have to always remember how we have received our blessings and what God wants in return. Paul said it best in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (NKJ). |
